How the Program Works:

Our High School Internship Program is a short-term, project-based experience designed to connect ambitious students with local small businesses and non-profits. Over the course of a few weeks, students will work on a real-world project that aligns with their skills and interests— giving them hands-on experience while providing organizations with fresh perspectives and valuable contributions.

We act as the matchmaker between students and businesses, ensuring the best fit based on skills, goals, and needs. Students apply by sharing their areas of interest, availability, and strengths. Businesses apply by identifying the type of support they need and outlining a clear deliverable — a specific project or goal that the intern will work toward completing by the end of their internship.

How Matches are Made:

  1. Students Apply – High school students submit their application, listing their skills, interests, and availability.

  2. Businesses & Non-Profits Apply – Organizations submit an application outlining their needs, desired skills, and a defined project for the intern.

  3. Careful Matching – We review applications and pair the most-qualified and vetted interns with businesses based on mutual interests, needs, and availability.

  4. Internship Kickoff – Once matched, RISE connects students and businesses, set expectations, and begin working on their defined project goal.

  5. Project Completion & Reflection – Interns deliver a final project or tangible outcome and reflect on their experience.
